Fixed Blade Knife Making
with Jody Osentoski
In this hands-on, two-day course, students will learn the complete process of designing and crafting a functional fixed-blade knife. The class begins with an introduction to knife design principles, including blade geometry, ergonomics, and practical considerations for various uses. Participants will then move into the forge, where they will learn fundamental forging techniques to shape their blades.
Students will be guided step-by-step through heat-treating and tempering procedures to create a strong, durable cutting edge. The course concludes with fitting and shaping a custom handle, resulting in a finished knife that reflects both craftsmanship and individual design.
